Don’t Stress Over The Mess
Have a messy house and you don’t even know where to possibly begin? Sometimes just looking at the mess your house is in can be overwhelming. Have no fear, here are some productive and fun ways to tackle your house cleaning:
One section at a time
When looking at big cleaning project, it can be very intimidating and stressful. Just like any project or adventure, they all start with a first step. Start by cleaning one room at a time. Start on one side of the room and make your way to the other side. I recommend starting with the living room. Once you clean one section of the room, you can envision what the rest of the space will look like when it is clean. This makes it easier to put stuff away to its correct locations and it gives you an indication on which areas that you have already cleaned and the spaces that still need attention. Dividing up the house cleaning in manageable chunks and taking them on one at a time allows you to give yourself breaks when needed and takes away the overwhelming stress that comes with house cleaning.

Set goals for certain days
Dividing your house cleaning goals into multiple days will also help take the stress off cleaning your home. By breaking up your house cleaning chores into days not only reduces stress and anxiety, but it also allows you to have time to relax and do the things that you enjoy doing. This way, you are giving the right amount of effort and attention on cleaning the rooms or spaces that you set your goal for that day. Don’t burn yourself out mentally and physically by thinking that you must clean your entire house in a few hours. Break your chores up into evenly manageable chunks and give yourself breaks. This will help you have the energy and the attention to detail to make sure the spaces you are cleaning are clean and looking amazing.
Turn up the music
Cleaning can be tedious and not the most desirable experience, let’s face it. Let us try to make it a little fun at least. Get out the speaker and plug in your favorite feel-good music playlist. Sing and dance to your favorite part of the song when it comes on! Even play your favorite podcast or audiobook when you’re doing your house cleaning chores. Putting your mind in relaxing fun atmosphere can help make your chores fly by without you even noticing.

Get the kids involved
Let’s be honest, most of this mess in your house is from the kids, here is some ways to get them motivated to help with the cleaning chores. Turn cleaning into a game. Give candy or ice cream as a prize for dusting or vacuuming the carpets. Reward them for contributing to the cleaning of your home by taking them out to ice cream after or taking them to see that movie that they can’t stop talking about when the cores are done.
Staying on top of the chores
One of the best ways to maintain a clean house is to keep a running list of cleaning chores that you or your kids could do throughout the week. For example, having “Vacuum the bedrooms on Thursdays” or “sweep the kitchen on Tuesdays”. Assigning certain chores to certain family members ensures that everyone is playing a part in the cleanliness of your home. Staying on top of your running list of chores makes the large scheme of cleaning hour house not so stressful and overwhelming.
